MRS. M. O. BRADY DIED LAST FRIDAY

Resident of County 74 Years Succumbs at Home of Daughter Here

Mrs. M. O. Brady, a resident of Madison county continuously for the past 74 years, died early last Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Millie Harrell of Winterset. She was 80 years of age.

Mrs. Brady was born Nov. 28, 1860, in Davis county, as Emma Akin, daughter of Louis and Mary Akin. She was the last surviving member of a family of 16 brothers and sisters.

She came to Madison county with her parents when she was six years of age, and this county had since been her home.

She was married here on Feb. 16, 1882, to M. O. Brady. Most of their married life was spent near Macksburg. They were the parents of six children, one of which, a boy, died in infancy. One daughter also, Mrs. Cleo Smith, died 11 years ago. Mr. Brady succumbed eight years ago.

She is survived by one son, Ora Brady of Macksburg; three daughters, Mrs. Fay Cox of Morgan, Minn., Mrs. Millie Harrell of Winterset, and Mrs. Eva Silverthorn of Winterset; 11 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the Macksburg Methodist church last Sunday, with burial in the Macksburg cemetery.

MORTUARY

Funeral services for Mrs. Mo. O. Brady were held from the Macksburg Methodist church at 2:45 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, conducted by the Rev. B. R. Weetman. Music was furnished by Wayne Crow, Mrs. Luella Whitworth, Mrs. Neva Baker, and Mrs. James Steele, accompanied by Mrs. Jay Thompson. Interment was made in the Macksburg cemetery, under the direction of the Watts funeral home, with six grandsons as pallbearers.

Emma Belle, daughter of Lewis and Mary Ellen Akin, was born Nov. 28, 1860, in Davis county, Iowa, and passed away at a daughter's home in Winterset, Dec. 27, 1940, at the age of 80 years, and 29 days.

At the age of 7 years she moved with her parents to Monroe township, Madison county, where she spent most of her life. She was one of a family of 16 children.

She was married Feb. 16, 1882, to M. O. Brady, also a resident of Madison county. To this union six children were born, Lee, who died in infancy, Ora of Macksburg, Mrs. Faye Cox of Margan, Minn., Mrs. Millie Harrell and Mrs. Eva Silverthorn of Winterset, and Mrs. Cleo Smith, who departed this life March 15, 1929. Her eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren were a joy and comfort to her.

There never was and never will be a more devoted mother than Mrs. Brady.

Mr. and Mrs. Brady attended the Fellowship Congregational church, where Mrs. Brady had her membership. Mr. Brady was called from her and taken to rest April 7, 1932.
