Chas C. McVay

Chas C. McVay, son of Nathaniel and Jane McVay, was born near New Sharon, Poweshiek county, February 26, 1864. In 1886 he was married to Miss Bessie De Groft at Anita, Iowa. Most of his married life was spent near Anita, until he moved to Macksburg about seven years ago. He died suddenly at his home south of Macksburg, on November 1, 1928. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, ten children, ten grandchildren, two sister and one niece and nephew.

The daughters are; Mrs. S. B. Mosteller of Norwalk, Muriel and Dorothy, who live at home; the sons are R. H. of Fairmount, Minnesota; Otta of Creston; Clifford of Des Moines; Frank, Will, Tod and Forest, all of near Macksburg. One daughter, Mildred, passed away at the age of 15 years. The sisters are; Mrs. Wm. Heath of Des Moines and Mrs. Ellis Olifant of Council Bluffs; the nephew K. H. May of Cincinnati, Ohio; the niece, Mrs. Herbert Madsen of Omaha, Nebraska and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the M. E. church, conducted by the Rev. Eugene D. Alexander and interment was made at the Moon cemetery.
