BERT BOND DIED AT HIS HOME SATURDAY

Well Known Citizen Had Been in Failing Health for Many Years

William Albert Bond, familiarly known as Bert Bond in this community, died at his home in Winterset Saturday after many years of failing health. He was 67 years of age.

Mr. Bond was a native of Missouri Valley, where he was born July 13, 1873. His early life was spent in Henry county. He came to Madison county in 1896, and engaged in farming here, of which he made a considerable success. After his health failed he retired and moved to Winterset, where his last years were spent.

He was married on April 4, 1900, to Olive E. Smith. They were the parents of four daughters and one son.

Mr. Bond had a birthright in the Friends church, and was a member of the Modern Woodman lodge.

He leaves his wife; the four daughters, Mrs. Faith Young, Mrs. Fern Kerns, Mrs. Lillian McAdow, and Carol Bond; the son, Nelson Bond; eight grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. John Thomas, all of this county.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Winterset Methodist church, in charge of the Revs. W. A. Samp, the pastor, and P. H. Beckman of Oak Grove church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
