Elderly Winterset Resident Succumbs After Years of Failing Health
Frank Bond, a resident of Madison county for 45 years, died at his home in Winterset Monday night after a long illness. He had been in failing health for five years.
Mr. Bond was a native of Illinois, where he was born in Knox county on Nov. 30, 1855. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bond, and was the youngest of a family of 12 children, of which he was the last surviving member. He was married in Illinois on May 22, 1881, to Miss Emma S. Headley. They were the parents of four children, all of whom survive.
Mrs. Bond died in 1936.
Mr. Bond brought his family to Iowa 45 years ago. They settled in Jackson township, where he farmed until 1911. In that year he retired and moved to Winterset, which had since been his home.
He is survived by three sons, Ray Bond of Jackson township, Irwin Bond of White Oak, and Dale Bond of Winterset; a daughter, Mrs. Vera Nelson of Lohrville; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held this Thursday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home at 1:30 p.m., in charge of the Rev. J. R. McNichols, pastor of the Methodist church. Burial will be made in the Penn Center cemetery.
