Time has turned the past page in the great book of life of one most dearly loved and sorrow has thrown its dark shadow over another home, lately graced by a precious daughter and sister. Marie—youngest daughter of Bruce and Fern Algreen entered this life June 24, 1927 on a farm south of Stuart, and entered the life eternal in Des Moines, August 22, 1940 at the age of 13 years one month and 28 days. When Marie was five years old her parents moved to the present home. She attended the rural school and this last spring graduated from the eighth grade and was planning to enter high school this fall.
However she has entered a higher school of learning where the degree is everlasting life. She was a faithful member of the Pitzer Sunday School always ready and willing to do her part in the activities of the Sunday School. Marie was a good obedient child, always mindful of others and especially of her baby brother whom she loved so dearly. In her long serious illness, she never complained and when asked how she was, would answer, “I am o.k.” Marie is not far from us she has passed through the valley and shadow into the enjoyment of sweet peace and rest, the gift of God’s love. To the grief stricken family and friends heaven today is a dearer, richer place because one of God’s dear children has gone to her crowning.
Besides her sorrowing parents, she leaves the following relatives: two sisters, Dorothy and Margie, and brother Ronald Bruce; a great grandmother, Mrs. Della Morford, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Algreen and Mr. and Mrs. Guy W. Lenocker, with a host of relatives and friends who will miss this fine young girl.
Funeral services from Pitzer Presbyterian church last Sunday at 2 p.m. were conducted by Rev. J. H. Freedline. Interment was made at the Penn Center cemetery.
The pall bearers were: Russell and Richard Frey, Glen Waltz, Philip Niblo, Robert Jones and Lloyd Sawhill.
Six flower girls carried beautiful bouquets and acted as honorary pall bearers. They were: Wanda Finney, Ruth DeVault, Virginia Hoeness, Myrl DeVault, Ada Allen and Dorothy Crawford. Large and gorgeous flowers and floral pieces almost hid the casket and grave of this beloved young woman, so loved by all.
