Last Rites Were Held Here Friday for Former Resident Who Died in Indianola
Mrs. Harry B. Wise, the former Ida Mae Travis, who was born Jan. 10, 1882, near Peru, died March 4, at her home in Indianola after an extended illness. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Travis.
She received her education in the Winterset schools and taught in the schools of the county. After additional training at Drake university she taught in the grade schools of Winterset for a number of years.
She was married to Harry B. Wise Jan. 2, 1909. To them were born seven children, all of whom survive their mother: Maurice Wise and Mrs. Adelaide Bek living near Indianola, Gerald Wise and Mrs. Dorothy Walker of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Merrill Wise of the U.S. army transport service stationed in Arkansas, and Ruth and Margaret of Indianola.
Beside her husband and children, she leaves four grandchildren and seven sisters: Mrs. Bertha Cox of Blue Lake, Cal., Mrs. Carrie Keller of Waukesha, Wis., Mrs. Adelaide Preston of Newark, N. J., Mrs. Elizabeth Pennebaker of Sharpsburg, Mrs. Nell Sprinkle of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Laura Hollen and Mrs. Louisa Sawyer of Winterset.
Funeral services were held at ten o'clock Friday, March 7 at the St. Paul's Lutheran church in Martensdale, where she was a member, conducted by Rev. Ernest Mueller, and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
