Former Local Resident Is Victim of Accident on West Coast
Word was received here last week of the recent death near Omak, Wash., of Wilbur E. Benedict, formerly of Winterset, and a brother of Melvin Benedict of this community.
Benedict was fatally injured when a Washington state highway department truck, in which he was a passenger, careened off a hill. He was 45 years of age.
Born in Atkinson county, Mo., he came to Madison county with his parents at the age of 7 years, living here until his enlistment in the U. S. engineers during the World War. In recent years his home had been at Wenatchee, Wash.
He is survived by his widow; his father, Charles Benedict, both of Wenatchee; a son, Charles S. Benedict of Seattle; a daughter at home; two brothers, Melvin Benedict of Winterset and Glenn Benedict of Wenatchee.
