A. E. Johnson, who has been residing with his son, W. E. Johnson and family for the past four years, died early Monday morning Jan. 5th, at the Johnson home on North First street. Mr. Johnson, who was 79 years of age, had been seriously ill with heart trouble the two weeks preceding his death.

Mr. Johnson was born at Eddyville, in Mahaska county, Aug. 27, 1862, and always made his home in that community. Four years ago he came to Winterset and has since resided here.

He is survived by a daughter, Miss Helen Johnson of Omaha, and the son, W. E. Johnson of Winterset. He also leaves a grandson, Gene Johnson of Winterset.

His funeral services are being held at the Kline funeral home in Eddyville at 1:30 p.m. this afternoon, and burial will be made in the cemetery there.
