Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. E. G. Holmes of Elida, New Mexico, on Wednesday, Feb. 5th. Mrs. Holmes who was 72 years of age, became ill with influenza a month ago, and it was thought she was improving, when complications arose causing her death.
Mrs. Holmes was the former Laura Belle Harrell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Harrell of Scott township. She was born April 22, 1868 in this county; she was married to Mr. Holmes October 4, 1887 (hard to read), and they made their home in this county until in 1906 when they moved to New Mexico, where they have since resided.
The deceased is survived by her husband, and three of their children: Mrs. Ethel Breman of Mansfield, Mo., Floyd Holmes of Elida, and Mrs. Thelma Henderson of Van Court, Texas. Two children preceded the mother in death. She also leaves two sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Hettie Deal of Newton, Kan., and Mrs. Maggie Schoenenberger, Frank and Cleveland Harrell, all of this county.
Funeral and burial services were held at Elida.
