Death of Wm. Lindsey

Wm. Lindsey passed away at his home in Winterset at an early hour Sunday morning. Funeral services conducted by Rev. C. T. McCaughan, were held from the United Presbyterian church on Monday afternoon and the interment made in the Winterset cemetery.

By the older settlers of the county, Mr. Lindsey will be remembered as a resident of Jackson township, having settled there in 1864. He afterwards moved to a farm near Douglas Center and upon retiring from the farm, moved to Winterset where he has since lived.

He was a man of strong religious character and for many years was actively associated with the work of the church and the Sabbath school. With Gudliff Brooker, who passed away not long ago, he was instrumental in the organization of the Madison County Sunday School Association and was a life member of the American Bible Society, two organizations that have exerted a wide influence for good. His wife survives him.
