OLIVE SIMMERMAN DIES AT AGE 85

Olive Simmerman, daughter of Benjamin and Jane Kirk, was born July 21, 1884 in Lincolnshire, England, and died at the Clarke County hospital in Osceola on Feb. 3, 1970 at the age of 85 years. At the age of five, she accompanied her parents and eight brothers and sisters to Madison and Clarke County,m Iowa, where she received her education.

On March 3, 1907, at the home of her parents, she was united in marriage to Felix Simmerman, and to this union 12 children were born, of which eight survive.

She lived the earlier years of her married life in Clarke county, except for three years north of Hysham, Montana. In 1918 the family moved to their present home in Walnut township of Madison county. She was baptized in the Christian Church at an early age and was an active member of the Madison Chapel church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by five sons and three daughters: Vada Denly of Osceola, Maynard of Hysham, Montana; William H. of Osceola; Neita Denly of Galesburg, Illinois; Nelson of Peru; Gerald of Elyria, Ohio; Ross of El Paso, Texas and Dora Denly of Osceola; also 20 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 2 great great granddaughters; four sisters, Margaret of Las Vegas, Nevada; Lizzie and Clara of Murray and Susie of Peru; two brothers, White of Bull Shoals, Arkansas and Hiram of Peru.
