MRS. ANNA B. WHITE DIED HERE MONDAY

Funeral Services Held on Wednesday From M. E. Church Here

Mrs. Anna B. White, long-time resident of this county, died at her home in Winterset Monday after an illness of two weeks. She was 79 years of age.

With the exception of three years in Kansas, Mrs. White had spent her entire life in Madison county since coming here from her birthplace, Manard county, Illinois, with her parents, Nathan and Mahala Hayden. She was 6 years old when the family came here.

She was widely known both in Winterset and Peru, and had operated restaurants in both these communities for a number of years.

Mrs. Hayden was married to Joel White on Feb. 2, 1886.

She was a member of the Methodist church; and was a charter member of the William Deardorff relief corps at Peru.

Mrs. White is survived by her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Velma Moore of Winterset; two grandsons, Roslyn and Kermit Moore of Winterset; two brothers, P. W. Hayden of Winterset and Charles Hayden of Peru; and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth McGlothlen of Peru.

After a brief service at her home, funeral services were held at the Winterset Methodist church Wednesday in charge of the pastor, the Rev. W. A. Samp. Burial was made in the cemetery at Peru.

MRS. JOEL WHITE DIES MONDAY

Funeral Services Held Here Wednesday For 71-Year-Old Woman.

Mrs. Joel White, 71-year-old resident the Winterset, died at her home in the east part of town, Monday, following an extended illness.

Anna Bell, daughter of Nathan and Mahalla Hayden, was born Jan. 27, 1862 in Manard county, Illinois, and died at age 79 years, 1 month and 18 days. At the age of six she moved with her parents to Iowa where she spent her entire life with the exception of three in Kansas.

She was married on Feb. 22, 1886 to Joel White. They were the parents of one daughter, Mrs. Velma Moore. On Feb. 22, their 55th wedding anniversary Mr. White was stricken with paralysis and has since then confined to bed.

She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Velma Moore of Winterset; Kermit Moore of the Marine Corps; two brothers, P. W. Hayden of Winterset and Charles Hayden of Peru; one sister, Elizabeth McGlothlen of Peru. One sister, Mrs. J. E. Walker and two brothers, Tom and Eliza (sic) Hayden preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon at two o’clock, conducted by Rev. W. A. Samp. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
