Bevington

Henry Kegley, a resident of Bevington forty years ago died at the home of his son Roy in Chicago and was buried in Winterset cemetery last Sunday.

Death of Wm. H. Kegley

Funeral services for William H. Kegley, a former resident of Winterset, were held here Monday afternoon, April 16th, at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, and burial was in the Winterset cemetery. The Rev. W. C. Porter, pastor of the United Presbyterian church conducted the services.

Mr. Kegley, who was 84 years of age, was born in Monroe county, Indiana, December 18, 1849. He was stricken with pneumonia while he was visiting a son Arthur in Chicago and died there, Thursday, April 12th.

When a child of two he came to Clark county, from Indiana. His marriage to Miss Eliza Scrivener occurred at Winterset, March 14, 1878. They made their first home at Le Seur Cener, Minnesota. Later they returned to this county and lived on various farms near here. In 1911 he took his family to live in Greene county. During the World war he enlisted as a carpenter and was stationed at Nashville, Tennessee where he remained until the close of the war.

Mrs. Kegley died July 7, 1925. After this he disposed of his farming interests and made his home with his children in Des Moines.

He is survived by ten children: Lossie, Lloyd and Charles of Des Moines, Arthur of Chicago, Roy of Jefferson, Walter of Minneapolis, Mrs. Stella Hutchinson, Mrs. Nellie Holsman and Mrs. Ethel Chappell of Des Moines. There are ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren, two brothers and a sister also surviving him: Mrs. Elizabeth Foster of Osceola, Sam Kegley of Minneapolis and Charles of Lee Center, Minnesota. A daughter Mrs. Jake Sandy and a son William preceded him in death.
