MARION L. HOOD

Winterset

Marion L. Hood, 85, of Winterset died Friday, June 15, 2007 at Mercy Hospice, Johnston.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 18, 2007 a visitation will be held Sunday, June 17 from 1 to 7 p.m. at the First United Presbyterian Church of Winterset with the Reverend Jim Howland officiating. A visitation will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. at the First United Presbyterian Church where the family will receive friends from 4 to 7p.m. Memorials may be directed to Middle River Hospice, Winterset.

Marion was born November 04, 1921, the daughter of Claude and Mildred (Wigton) Monagon. She graduated from Winterset High School and later attended beauty school. Her marriage to Wayne Hood took place in 1941. Marion along with her husband managed the family farm and raised her children. After her husband died she was also a home health care provider.

Marion was a devoted wife, mother and friend to all. She was known all over town as "Grandma Hood" and looked after many friends, making sure they had a ride to appointments or visits. She was a genuine trusting woman who loved people.

Marion was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church and previously was a member of the Pitzer United Presbyterian Church. She and her husband also attended the Earlham Church of Christ where they were both baptized as adults. She was a member of the Madison County Historical Society where she was a volunteer as well as being a member of the Farm Bureau.

Marion is survived by her four children; two sons, Robert Hood and his wife, Ginny of Urbandale and Gary Hood of Winterset; and two daughters, Sherill Clark and husband, Dennis "Doc" of Winterset and Karen Carter and husband, Ron of Ankeny; 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Stephen Hood; a daughter, Sandra Hood; two sisters, Lucille Miller, Lois Nichols and two brothers, Marvin and Kenneth Monagon.

MARION HOOD, WINTERSET
