Emma Dora Shaw was born in Woodbury county, Illinois in 1873. Moved with her parents to Madison county, Iowa in 1882 where she has made her home until the time of her death January 24, 1902. She was married June 9, 1899 to Elijah Shearer. To this union was born a son January 20th, 1902.

Mrs. Shearer never united with any church, but she said she had faith in Jesus Christ and for all to meet her in Heaven.

She leaves a husband, and aged mother and father, one sister and an infant son to mourn her loss. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of all the friends and neighbors. She had many good, true friends who sadly mourn her loss. The remains were interred in the Clark cemetery.
