Henry M. Taylor, 89, of Winterset, Iowa, died June 3, 2007 at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 7, 2007, at the First Christian Church in Winterset, Iowa with Rev. Rich Koster and Rev. Bill Branson officiating. Burial will be in the Earlham Cemetery at Earlham, Iowa.

Henry M. Taylor was born on February 19, 1918, at Earlham, Iowa to William and Cevilla (Bennett) Taylor. He was married on October 1, 1938 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, to Edna Elizabeth Hymes.

Henry had been a lifetime resident of Madison County, having lived in Earlham and Winterset. He retired as a custodian at the Winterset Community Schools. He had also worked at Farmers Co-op and had been a lifetime farmer. He was a member of the IOOF and the Rebekah Lodge in Winterset. Henry enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and flower gardening.

Henry is survived by his children, Edward H. (Lisa) Taylor of Fairfield, Texas, Ronald E. Taylor of Winterset, and Shelia M. (Mike) Waltz of Winterset; eleven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, William and Cevilla (Bennett) Taylor; wife, Edna E. Taylor; daughter- in- law, Rose Taylor; son-in-law, Richard Smith; four brothers; two sisters; and grandson, Richard Shawn Smith.

Visitation will be Wednesday from noon to 8 p.m. at Collins Oak Park Chapel with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

Memorials given to the family will be directed to the First Christian Church or Care Center North Activity Fund.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel and Funeral Services in Winterset.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday, June 6) at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset, with family receiving friends from 5–7 p.m. Burial will be at Earlham Cemetery.

Henry Taylor was born Feb. 19, 1918, to William and Cevilla (Bennett) Taylor of Earlham. His marriage to Edna Elizabeth Hymes took place Oct. 1, 1938, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He was a lifetime resident of Madison County, living in Earlham and Winterset. Henry retired as a custodian with the Winterset Community School District. He also worked at Farmers Co-op and had been a lifetime farmer. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. and Rebekah Lodge in Winterset.

He was preceded in death by his wife, four brothers, two sisters and a grandson, Richard Shawn Smith.

He is survived by two sons, Edward H. Taylor of Fairfield, Texas, and Ronald E. Taylor of Winterset; one daughter, Shelia M. Waltz of Winterset; and 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions given to the family will be directed to the First Christian Church or Care Center North Activity Fund, both of Winterset.
