ELVIN E. MOFFITT DIES

Elvin E. Moffitt, well-known resident of Madison and Union counties, died at the hospital in Clarinda, Wednesday, Oct. 6th, at the age of 73 years. Mr. Moffitt was born Sept. 28, 1870 near Peru, the son of Jacob and Eliza Moffitt. He spent the greater part of his life in Madison and Union counties where he made many friends.

His marriage to Miss Sarah Eunice Castor was solemnized Jan. 15, 1896 and they were the parents of two children; Floyd of Glendo, Wyo., and Mrs. Nellie May Williams who preceded her father in death Feb. 8, 1920.

He had been a member of the Evangelical church for the past 30 years.

Mr. Moffitt is survived by his wife, the son Floyd and four grandchildren; Darlene Williams of Los Angeles, and Marion, Geraldine and Lyle Moffitt. He also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Maggie Handley and Mrs. Vernie Lewis of Lorimor and Mrs. Allie Lecocq of Macksburg and one brother, Everett Moffitt of Des Moines.

Funeral services for the deceased were held Saturday, Oct. 9th at 2 p.m. at the Watts Funeral home in Lorimor with the Rev. Edgar Thompson in charge and burial was made in the Lorimor cemetery.
