W. R. PILMER DIES

St. Charles--(Special)--Apr. 12.

W. R. Pilmer whose illness was noted in these items last week, passed away at a hospital in Des Moines Wednesday, April 9. He had been in very poor health for some time, but it was not known to be so serious until he collapsed while on his way to visit relatives near Anita on March 27. He was taken to the hospital in Atlantic but was soon taken by ambulance to Des Moines where he was found to be critically ill and death came suddenly a few days later. He was 73 years of age and had lived in St. Charles for the past ten years. He was an elder of the United Presbyterian church and was a regular attendant at all the services.

Funeral services were held in Anita Saturday afternoon and the body was taken to Mt. Vernon, South Dakota for burial beside his first wife who died many years ago. They were the parents of four sons, all dying in infancy. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Belle Carter of California, Mrs. Agnes McCosh of Anita and Mrs. Allie Hood of Massena, and two brothers, John Pilmer of Atlantic and Phillip of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held for William R. Pilmer last Saturday afternoon at Anita. He was then taken to Mitchell, S. D., for burial by the side of his first wife. His death occurred at Hill's Retreat in Des Moines last Wednesday, April 9, where he had been taken after a brief illness.

Mr. Palmer was born near Des Moines 73 years ago. For several years he lived in South Dakota. He has lived in St. Charles about ten years. His second wife was Mrs. Mary Weede Pilmer, who died Feb. 26, 1938. He is survived by several sisters and brothers but no direct heirs.
