JOHN M. NELSON DIES

John M. Nelson, aged resident of St. Charles, died last Thursday, Aug. 21st at the age of 83 years. The deceased was born in Anderson, Ind., and lived there until he was ten years of age, when the family moved to Knox County, Ill. He was married to Miss Ada May Wilkerson of Spencer, Neb., and they were the parents of 11 children. His wife died in 1926, and a daughter, Mrs. Velna Phipps died in 1933.

He is survived by the following children: Opal Anderson of Spencer, Neb.; Loyd Nelson of Mocolla, Oregon; Ollie Scisson of Rosebud, South Dakota; Anna Thomason of Bone Steal, South Dakota; William and Lawrence Nelson of St. Charles and Louise and Miriam Nelson of Stuart. He also leaves 17 grandchildren.

The Rev. Tom Foglesong conducted his funeral services at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home Friday, Aug. 22, and burial was at Ackley, Minn.

DEATH CLAIMS JOHN M. NELSON

Funeral Service Held Friday. Burial In Minnesota.

John M. Nelson, 83-year-old resident of Madison county, died Thursday following an extended period of ill health.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at two o’clock in the Ramsey–Richards funeral home. Rev. Tom Foglesong, pastor of the Church of Christ, officiated. The body was taken to Ackley, Minn., for burial.

John M. Nelson was born in Anderson, Ind., Feb. 11, 1853 and died at the age of 83 years, 6 months and 10 days. He spent his boyhood days in his native state and at the age of 10 he moved with his parents to Knox county, Illinois.

He married Adda May Wilkerson of Spencer, Nebr., on Sept. 13, and to this union were born 11 children. Mrs. Nelson preceded him in death on March 21, 1926.

Surviving relatives are 10 children: Opal Anderson of Spencer, Nebr.; Loyd Nelson of Mocolla, Ore.; Ollie Scissons, Rosebud, So. Dak.; William Nelson and Lawrence Nelson of St. Charles; Louise and Marian Nelson of Stuart. One daughter, Mrs. Velma Phillips, died Jan. 22, 1933. Seventeen grandchildren also survive.
