Long-Time Resident Leaves Large Family of Children and Grandchildren
Mrs. W. B. Garmon, one of Madison county's oldest residents died at her home near Truro on Wednesday of last week. She was 82 years of age.
Mrs. Garmon was the former Laura Jane Bell and was born near Patterson on Oct. 30, 1860. She was married to W. B. Garmon on Oct. 14, 1880. They were the parents of four sons and four daughters. One son, Francis and one daughter, Pearl, preceded the mother in death. With the exception of nine years at Garden City, Mo., her entire life was spent in Madison county.
She leaves her husband; six children, William Garmon of Des Moines, Mrs. W. B. Miles of Newton, Mrs. G. C. Clements of Warrensburg, Mo., John and Leslie Garmon of Truro, Mrs. W. H. Nolin of Ames; 18 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Lula Carter of Des Moines and Mrs. Blanche Weirich of Elgin, Ill.; and two brothers, L. J. Bell and L. D. Bell, both of Wick.
Funeral rites were held last Friday from the Truro Methodist church in charge of the Rev. W. W. Watson. Burial was made in the Blair Chapel cemetery.
