William Ersie Griffith, well known farmer living near Peru, died at the Winterset hospital January 31, 1935, after a brief illness of pneumonia and complications.
Mr. Griffith was born in Madison county on August 9, 1885, the son of Winfield and Kate Griffith. He was married on April 29, 1905, to Edna Chase. They were the parents of seven children, one of whom, a daughter, died in infancy.
The survivors are his wife; four sons, Robert Griffith of Des Moines, Paul Griffith of Winterset, and Frank and Wayne Griffith; and two daughters, Mary and Katherine Griffith, his aged mother, Mrs. Kate Griffith, and one grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted at the M. E. church in Winterset last Saturday. The Rev. A. R. Weed was in charge, assisted by Rev. W. W. Bentzinger. Burial was made in the McDonald cemetery.
The pall-bearers were Clyde Rhone, Percy Creese, Leland Phillips, True St. John, Bryan Fenimore, and Arnie Emerson.

Ersie Griffith, 49, died Wednesday evening of last week of pneumonia in the Winterset hospital after a few days illness. He had lived on a farm east of Peru the last few years. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Kate Griffith, his wife and six children, Robert Griffith, of Des Moines; Paul Griffith, of Winterset; Frank, Mary, Catherine and Wayne at home.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev A. R. Weed, pastor of the West Star church, Saturday afternoon from the Methodist church in Winterset. Burial was in the McDonald cemetery.
