MRS. HENRY THOMSEN OF EARLHAM IS DEAD

Resident of This County Since 1910 Died on May 10

Mrs. Henry Thomsen, a resident of Madison county since 1910, died May 10 at her home in Earlham after a brief illness. She was 66 years of age.

Mrs. Thomsen was a native of Germany, where she was born Sept. 14, 1877 as Anna Seamann, daughter of H. P. and Friedericka Seemann. She came to America with her parents in 1884, settling near Bouton in Dallas county. On June 15, 1893, she was married to Henry Thomsen of that community. They lived in Dallas and Boone counties and two years in Texas before moving to Madison county in 1910.

She is survived by her husband; four daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Johnston of Stuart; Mrs. Mary Jensen of Van Meter, Mrs. Emma Compton and Mrs. Frieda Shafer of Earlham; a brother, Henry Seemann of Perry; 10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held May 12 from the Presbyterian church at Earlham in charge of the Rev. C. Lillie pastor of the Lutheran church at Van Meter. Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.

Anna M. Thomsen Funeral Held Last Friday

Mrs. Anna M. Thomsen, wife of Henry Thomsen died at her home in Earlham about noon Wednesday, May 10. Mrs. Thomsen was born in Germany in 1877, coming to America with her parents in 1884.

She and her husband moved to Madison county in 1910 and recent years resided on their farm east of Earlham. Last fall they bought the Riser property across the street from the school and retired from the farm.

Mrs. Thomsen's health had been poorly but her sudden death came as a shock to her family and many friends.

Funeral services were held at the Earlham Presbyterian church, Friday, May 12 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Lillie of Van Meter was in charge of the services. Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.

OBITUARY

Anna M. Daughter of H. P. and Friedericka Seemann was born in Germany on September 14th, 1877.

She came to America with her parents in the year 1884. The family made their residence in the north part of Dallas county near the town of Bouton, Iowa.

On June 15th, 1893 she was united in marriage with Henry Thomsen, who was also a resident of the same community.

This union was blessed with six children; four daughters and two sons. The family lived for a number of years in Dallas and Boone counties also two years in the state of Texas and moved to Madison county in the year 1910.

Mrs. Thomsen departed this life after a brief illness on May 10th, 1944 at her home in Earlham at the age of 66 years seven months and 26 days.

Her two sons preceded her in death; John in 1923 and William in 1928.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Mr. Henry Thomsen; four daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Johnston of Stuart, Mrs. Mary Jensen of Van Meter; Mrs. Emma Compton and Mrs. Frieda Schafer of Earlham. One brother, Mr. Henry Seemann of Perry, Iowa. Also ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

On June 15th, 1943, Mr. and Mrs. Thomsen celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

Mrs. Thomsen was baptized in early childhood in the faith of the Evangelical Lutheran church. Later in life she also renewed this baptism with confirmation in the same faith. She remained a faithful member of the Lutheran church throughout her entire life.
