Van Meter-(Special)-Mrs. Edward Young passed away Monday evening at the home of her brother, Harry Reimann where she made her home. She had been ill about three weeks with flu and pneumonia.
The funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Jefferson United Brethren church conducted by the Rev. E. A. Elliott of Des Moines, a former pastor.
Musical numbers were given by Mrs. Lloyd D. Fisher, and Mrs. A. L. Stigers, with Mrs. Lloyd C. Hulse as accompanist. The pall bearers were Albert Burger, Virgil Smith, John Stephenson, Ward McCleary, Glenn Wilson and Tommy Lewis. Burial was made in the Jefferson cemetery.
Sarah Rose Reimann was born in Jefferson township, Madison county, Iowa, Jan. 12, 1872 and passed away at her home south east of Van Meter about nine o'clock Monday evening, Jan. 24 at the age of 72 years and 12 days.
She was the first child and only daughter of Julius and Anna Reimann. She resided at the home of her parents until her marriage to Edward Young of Dallas, Texas on May 25, 1905.
After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Young lived in Dallas, Tex. To their union there were no children born. They had one adopted daughter, Edna Mae, who is Mrs. Edna Mae Bailey of Dallas, Texas.
Mrs. Young has two grandchildren, Charles Edward Wells, who is is in the armed forces and Dorothy Mae Wells who lived with her grandmother.
Her husband preceded her in death in May 1925. Five years after Mr. Young's death, Mrs. Young returned to Iowa and made her home with her brother, Harry Reimann.
Mrs. Young was of Lutheran faith. She was a faithful and loving wife and mother.
She had six brothers of which there are three living to mourn her loss-Charley Reimann of Adel, Emmil E. Reimann and Harry Reimann, both of Booneville.
Among those here from a distance for the funeral were the daughter Mrs. Edna Mae Bailey of Dallas Texas, and a cousin, Earl Kolterman of Onaga, Kan.
