St. Charles (Special)--Dec. 22.--
Mrs. Earl Hurlbut, 67, passed away at the Mercy hospital early Tuesday morning, having been taken there only the day before, but she had been very ill at her home for about six weeks. She had lived in the vicinity of St. Charles for many years, and her health had failed rapidly since a severe sickness two years ago.
Surviving members of her family are her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Esther Beck of Indianola, Mrs. Hazel Huston of Albia, Grace of Indianola, and two sons, Clarence of St. Charles and Melvin of Camp Claiborne, La., who came on furlough to see his mother two weeks ago, and also returned for the funeral Thursday afternoon at the Methodist church in St. Charles and in the absence of Rev. Kirby, was conducted by Rev. W. M. Slack of Norwalk, with burial in the St. Charles cemetery.
