MRS. WILLIAM MARTIN OF ST. CHARLES DIES

Funeral Rites Were Held on Sunday From Christian Church There

Mrs. Carrie Martin, a resident of Madison county for the past 42 years, died last Thursday at the home of her son, Herbert Martin of St. Charles. She was 76 years of age.

Mrs. Martin was born at Kirksville on Dec. 13, 1865, the daughter of Logan and Virginia McGlasson. Her early life was spent at Kirksville, where she was married May 26, 1883, to William Martin. They lived near Kirksville until 1899, when they moved to Madison county, which had since been their home.

Mrs. Martin united with the Christian church of Kirksville in 1881, and at the time of her death had been a member of many years service in the St. Charles Christian church.

Mrs. Martin was the mother of two sons and two daughters. The latter, Mrs. Gladys Carver and Jennie Martin, both preceded their mother in death. She is survived by her husband; two sons, Herbert and Gordon Martin of St. Charles; a sister, Bertha McGlasson of Kirksville; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the Church of Christ at St. Charles Sunday in charge of the Rev. C. P. Shepard, assisted by the Rev. Marguerite Shepard. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
