Long-Time Resident Was 82 Years of Age; Rites Held Friday
Mrs. Fred E. Meyer, member of a well-known Jefferson township family died on Monday of last week at the home of her son, Carl Meyer in DeSoto, where she had made her home since 1934. She was 82 years of age. (d. 5-22-1944)
Mrs. Meyer was the former Ida Storck, eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Gerhardt Storck and was born at Guttenberg, Ia., on Oct. 15, 1861. In 1870 the family moved to Madison county.
On Jan. 20, 1886, she was married to Fred E. Meyer of Guttenberg. They made their home on a farm in Jefferson township where they lived many years. They were the parents of four children. Two of them preceded the mother in death, a son dying in infancy and a daughter, Wilma, at the age of 24 years. Her husband died in 1903.
Mrs. Meyer had been baptized in the Lutheran faith at Guttenberg, and was confirmed in that church at Dexter.
She is survived by two sons, Fred W. Meyer and Carl F. Meyer and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held last Friday from the Trinity Lutheran church in Jefferson township in charge of the pastor the Rev. C. Lillie. Burial was made in the cemetery there.
