Edwin Stanton Scott was born near Steubenville, Ohio, Jan. 9, 1865 and departed this life at his home near Arkansas City, March 22, 1941 at the age of 76 years, 2 months and 13 days.

He came with his parents, Oliver and Jane K. Scott, to Madison county, Iowa, in 1866, where he grew to manhood and received his education.

In December, 1892, he was united in marriage with Nellie Heacock, and to this union a son was born. His wife died in August, 1895.

He became a member of the Masonic fraternity in 1898, at Truro, Iowa, later transferring his membership to Haven Lodge, No. 157 A.F. and A.M., South Haven.

On January 16, 1904, he married Callie D. Peek at her father's home near Truro, Iowa. In 1930 he moved to Kansas with his family locating on a farm near Portland, where he lived for 18 years. In 1921 he retired from active farm duties, and he and his wife moved to their present home near Arkansas City.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Mrs. Callie D. Scott, one son, Raymond C. Scott of Portland, and one sister, Mrs. Esther May Leggett of St. Charles, a host of other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held March 24 at 2:30 o'clock in the Methodist church in Arkansas City and burial was made in the Memorial cemetery.
