MRS. ELIZA NELSON DIED HERE TUESDAY

Funeral Rites To Be Held This Thursday From Methodist Church

Mrs. Eliza Nelson, a resident of this county for most of her life, died at her home on East Jefferson street in Winterset Tuesday night, after an illness of several weeks. She was 80 years of age.

Mrs. Nelson was born in Pennsylvania on Oct. 2, 1860, the daughter of William and Amanda Miller. In early life she came to this county and lived for many years in the Peru neighborhood. Her husband, the late William A. Nelson, died in 1931.

Mrs. Nelson leaves two sons and two daughters: Seth Nelson, Mrs. Maude Frederickson, Bert Nelson, and Mrs. Bertha Ham, all of this county.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. this Thursday from the Methodist church, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. W. A. Samp. Burial will be made in the Peru cemetery.

MORTUARY

Eliza E. Nelson, daughter of Emanuel and Amanda Golden, was born in Adams county, Penn., Oct. 2, 1860.

When two years of age she came with her parents to Cedar county, Iowa where she grew to womanhood. At the age of 16 she united with the Methodist church near Tipton.

On April 8, 1886, she united in marriage to William A. Nelson at La Foon, S. Dak., and resided there for five years before moving to Harrison county, Iowa, and later to a farm in Madison county where they lived until the death of her husband on March 19, 1931. She then moved to Winterset where she was residing at the time of her death.

After coming to Winterset she affiliated with the Methodist church here.

She leaves to mourn her loss five children: Seth L. Nelson and Mrs. Maude Frederickson of Winterset, Guy D. Nelson of Lorimor, Bert W. Nelson of Peru, and Mrs. Bertha Ham of Winterset. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, two sisters, two brothers, and a host of friends. She was a devoted and loving mother, always thinking of and helping others, and loved by everyone who knew her.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church on Feb. 20 at 2:30 p.m., in charge of the Rev. W. A. Samp. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
