Death of Edward Allen

Mrs. Lucy McDaniel received a letter recently, from Mrs. Edward Allen, of Clovis, New Mexico, telling of the death of her husband, which occurred March 31st, at Silver City, New Mexico, where he had gone to spend the day. They had been spending the winter with their daughter, Mrs. Dan McCarty, near Silver City, as he had been in poor health for nearly three years.

While working in the Santa Fe railway shops at Clovis, he received an injury, which caused a nerve shock, from which he never recovered. While visiting friends in Silver City, he was suddenly stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage, and only lived five hours. Funeral and burial services were held at Clovis, April 4th.

Mr. Allen was the youngest son of Wm. B. and Frances E. Allen, of the Elm Grove neighborhood. He was 60 years of age at the time of his death. He was a resident of Madison county until 1905, when he and his family moved to New Mexico, where he homesteaded in the Pecos Valley, and lived a few years, and then went to work for the Santa Fe Railway company.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, four daughters and several grandchildren, and also his sisters, Mrs. Lucy McDaniel and Mrs. Henry Hoover, and his two brothers, Joe and Levi Ray and several nieces and nephews of this county.

Mrs. Allen was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andy Tusha.
