MRS. FRANK DEMOTT DIES IN INDIANA

Mrs. Frank Demott, a former resident of Jackson township, died last Saturday at Indianapolis, Ind. according to word received by relatives here.

Mrs. Demott left here about 30 years ago, and has been making her home in Needham, Ind. She leaves a number of nieces and nephews in Madison county.

Mrs. Harrison [Harriet] Demott, age 77, wife of Frank Demott of Needham township, died at 2 a.m. Saturday at the Methodist hospital where she had been a patient since Monday. Death resulted from a heart ailment and other complications.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Needham Christian church. Burial will follow in the Second Mt. Pleasant cemetery.

Friends may call at the Vandivier funeral home Sunday afternoon and evening and are invited to attend the funeral services.

Mrs. Demott was born January 8, 1867 in the Scott Prairie neighborhood at Veedersburg, the daughter of James and Elizabeth Stockdale. She was united in marriage to Frank Demott March 4, 1897, at Danville, Ill.

The couple came to Johnson county and lived m Clark township for tour years and then moved to Iowa, returning to Needham township. Johnson county, about thirteen years ago. Mrs. Demott was a member of Christian church in the Scott Prairie neighborhood.

Surviving with the husband are two daughters, Mrs. Sarah Ford of Louisville, Ky.; and Mrs. Mary Wilson of Indianapolis; two grandsons. Jimmy Joe Wilson of Indianapolis and Robert N. Henry of Louisville, a member of the U. S. Navy; two step-grandsons, Jack and Ralph Ford of Indianapolis, both in the Army and one brother, Mahlon Stockdale of Marshall, Ind.

The Rev. Ellis Veal of Middletown conducted the funeral services of Mrs. Frank Demott, Monday afternoon, at the Needham Christian church. Music for the service was provided by the Graham quartet of Whiteland. The casket was carried by relatives of the deceased from near Veedersburg and the flowers were also in charge of relatives. Burial was in the Second Mt. Pleasant cemetery.

Transcriber’s Note: Obituaries transcribed as published. She was "Cynthia H. Stockdale" in the 1870 census. As an adult, she used the name "Harriet" which was on her Indiana Certificate of Death, March 25, 1944. In two censuses and her gravestone, she is "Harriett".
