JOHN VANDERMEY RITES HELD NOV. 9

TRURO-Funeral services were held here Nov. 9 from the Kale Funeral home for John Vandermey, a long-time resident of Prairie Grove community, whose death had occurred Nov. 7 at the age of 89 years.

Mr. Vandermey was a native of the Netherlands, where he was born Nov. 5, 1865, a son of Clarence and Yetta Vandermey. His early life was spent in the Netherlands. When he was 10 years of age he came to America and settled at Pella.

His life was spent in farming. He was a member of the First Dutch Reformed church at Pella.

He was married Nov. 23, 1898 to Sarah Meekma. They were parents of six children. The wife and two children preceded him in death.

Mr. Vandermey had lived in the Prairie Grove community for 40 years.

Surviving are a son, Clarence of Truro; three daughters, Elsie and Dorothy of Truro and Mrs. Martha Stevens of Des Moines; and one grandchild.

The Rev. Walter Schilling officiated at the funeral services here Nov. 9. Burial was made in Field's cemetery.
