Death of Edith Hyder

Edith B. Hyder died at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines on Jan. 11th from empyemia. She entered the hospital the last of November because of anemia. Blood transfusion became necessary and an operation was performed a few days later. Three weeks later went to the home of her cousin, Mrs. Henry Elwell and remained there until the Saturday preceding her death. The X-ray showed that one lung was filled and her condition grew much worse.

The news of her death came as a great shock to Winterset friends, as few persons knew of her return to the hospital. The remains were brought here for burial, services being conducted by Rev. LeRoy C. Cooley on Saturday afternoon in the Presbyterian church.

Miss Hyder was the daughter of Edward Hyder and the late Rebecca Cassiday Hyder. She was a native of Winterset, a graduate from its high school and a teacher in Madison county for several years. Her musical abilities had brought her brought her high prominence in the church choirs of this city, as well as in the social affairs. She will be greatly missed in Winterset where her entire life was spent.
