July 28, 1954MARION OLSON DIED MONDAY IN CALIFORNIA
Marion Olson, a former Madison county resident and an outstanding athlete at Winterset High School more than 20 years ago, died Monday, July 26 at Santa Monica, Calif. He was 42 years of age and had been in failing health for four years.
He was born near Pitzer, Dec. 10, 1911 and spent his early life in this county. He graduated from the Winterset high school with the class of 1931. He left this community about 12 years ago and before his health failed had been employed in an airplane factory in California.
He is survived by his wife the former Eilene Stevens of Winterset, his mother of Des Moines; a 15-year-old son Gary; two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Smith and Mrs. Lucille White, both of Winterset; and two brothers, Glen (Pete) Olson of Miles City, Mont. and Warren Olson of Douglas, Wyo.
Funeral and burial services will be held at Inglewood, Calif. this Friday.
