Death of Mrs. Mary Sowers

Mrs. Mary Sowers passed away at her home at Des Moines last Monday. She had been with her daughter, Mrs. A. L. Ballard here until she was taken ill in August. She was taken to the hospital in Des Moines in August where she remained until she was able to be moved to her home. She has been bedfast since that time.

Mrs.Sowers was 77 years of age at the time of her death. She was born in Ohio and moved with her family to Iowa when she was 12 years of age. She was married to Thomas Sowers and they made their home near Ames until Mr. Sowers died six years ago. She joined the church of Christ when 12 years of age.

Mrs. Sowers is survived by six children, Mrs. Ballard of Winterset, Miss Dorothy Sowers of Des Moines, George W. of Story City, Delbert of Oakland, California, Myrtle Gilmore of Los Angeles, and John W. of Woodland, California, also a brother, J. C. Smith of Ferbald and a sister, Mrs. Bell Ricketts of Ames.

Funeral services were held November 19th at 2 o’clock at the J. Adams funeral home at Ames. Rev. Browning of Ames conducted the services and burial was at Ames.
