R. MURRAY MOORE DIES AT 76 YEARS

Prominent Farmer Had Lived in This County Most of Life

Murray Moore, one of Madison county's oldest residents, died at a Winterset nursing home, Tuesday, April 20. He was 96 years of age.

Robert Murray Moore was born Nov. 26, 1857 near Biggsville, Ill., a son of Joseph and Hannah Buchanan Moore. At an early age he came to Madison county and most of his life was spent here. He farmed extensively south of Earlham and was known as an agricultural leader in this community.

Mr. Moore was the oldest member of the United Presbyterian church at Pitzer.

He was married in 1893 to Harriet Barr who preceded him in death. He is survived by two sons, J. Ross Moore of Pitzer and Guy Moore of Madison township; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a brother, Will Moore of Dexter; and a sister, Mrs. Clara Woods of South Laguna, Calif.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Pitzer United Presbyterian church. Burial will be made in the Earlham cemetery.
