DON HOLMES DIES AT 30 YEARS OF AGE

Don Holmes of Des Moines, a former Winterset resident, died at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines last Thursday of cancer. He had been ill several months. He was thirty years old.

Mr. and Mrs. Holmes, made their home here for three years leaving here about six years ago. He was employed at Sweeney Motors and Armour Creamery while living here. They have made their home in Des Moines since where he was employed by Solar. He served in the U. S. Marines during World War ll three years being spent overseas.

He is survived by his wife, the former Barbara Spurgin, three sons, Larry, age eleven, Jerry age nine and Chuckie two; his mother, Mrs. Myrtle Holmes of Cherokee; two sisters and a brother.

Services were held at the Caldwell-Brien Funeral home in Des Moines last Saturday with burial in the soldiers plot at Glendale with full military rites.
