Wednesday, March 3, 1954MRS. CAPTOLA HOLMES DIES AT 92 YEARS
Mrs. Captola B. Holmes, a resident of Madison county during most of her life, died Friday Feb. 26, at the age of 92 years. She had been in failing health for several years.
Mrs. Holmes was born in Madison county June 3, 1861, a daughter of Porter and Nancy Rollstin, the eldest in a family of 10 children. She was married Aug. 28, 1879 to J. N. Holmes, whose death occurred in 1904. Three children, Frank, Elmer and Ella also preceded her in death.
She was a member of the United Presbyterian church and the Women's Relief corps.
Surviving are two sons Lester C. Holmes of Lorimor and Walter T. Holmes of Hensler, N. Dak. She also leaves 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. S. C. Picken, pastor of the Winterset United Presbyterian church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
