Retired Farmer Had Lived in Madison County for 60 Years
Charlie F. Garrett, a long-time resident of the Macksburg community, died at his home in Grand River township Sunday at the age of 67 years. Born in Clarke county, he had been a resident of Madison county for 60 years. He was a son of Charles and Catherine (McGuire) Garrett.
Mr. Garrett's active life had been spent as a farmer near Macksburg, but he had been retired in recent years.
He was married Feb. 12, 1911 to Verlie Bonham at the home of her parents near Macksburg. She survives him. He also leaves a daughter, Mrs. Geraldine White; a granddaughter, Deanna Norris; a brother, Dr. H. U. Garrett of Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Macksburg Methodist church, conducted by pastor, the Rev. Mr. Rowe. Burial was made in Moon cemetery near Macksburg.

MACKSBURG—Charles Garrett, 67, a longtime resident of Macksburg, died at his home here Sunday afternoon. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church here at 2 p. m. today. Rev. C. M. Rowe officiated. Burial was in the Moon cemetery, south of Macksburg.
Mr. Garrett was born and raised near Truro but had lived in Macksburg for many years.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Verlie Bottom Garrett; a daughter, Mrs. Geraldine White of Macksburg; a granddaughter, Deana White; and a brother, Dr. H. U. Garrett of Des Moines, Iowa state veterinarian.
