H. D. GROUELL DIES

H. D. Grouell, resident of Madison township for the past twenty-seven years, passed away at his home near Earlham, on Wednesday, Aug. 13, after several months of failing health. He was 66 years of age. Mr. Grouell had been at the University hospital at Iowa City for several weeks for treatment, and was brought to his home the Saturday preceding his death.

Harry David Grouell, the son of George and Clara Grouell, was born September 8, 1874 near Wheatland, Iowa. At the age of eight years he moved with his father's family to Ida county, where he lived for 32 years.

On January 9, 1907, he was united in marriage to Miss Julia Wilheim at Monticello. They were the parents of two daughers, Esther and Mary Katherine. In the spring of 1914, Mr. and Mrs. Grouell and two daughters moved to the farm in Madison county, where he had engaged in farming for the past 27 years.

When a youth, Mr. Grouell united with the United Presbyterian church near Battle Creek. At the time of his death he was a member of the Worthington Methodist church.

Funeral services were held from this church Saturday, Aug. 18th by the Rev. Reed Kessler and the Rev. Paul Crouse. Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.

In addition to his wife and two daughters, Mr. Grouell is survived by two brothers, William J. Grouell of Hollywood, Cal., and Arthur N. Grouell of Ida Grove, and one sister, Mrs. F. A. Young of Fessenden, North Dakota.

Harry David Grouell, son of George and Clara Grouell was born September 8, 1874 near Wheatland, Iowa. After many months of failing health he departed from this life at his home near Earlham, on August 13, 1941 at the age of 66 years, 11 months and five days. All that loving hands and tender care were given to relieve his suffering.

At the age of eight years he moved with his father's family to Ida county were he lived for 32 years.

On January 8, 1907 he was united in marriage to Julia Wilhelm at Monticello, Iowa. To this union were born two daughters, Esther and Mary Katherine.

In the spring of 1914 Harry moved with his wife and children to their present home in Madison county where he has been engaged in farming for 27 years.

When just a boy Harry united with the United Presbyterian church near Battle Creek, Iowa, and had lived in the faith of that early teaching. At the time of his death he was a member of the Worthington Methodist church.

His life had exemplified his sterling qualities by neighborly deeds and helpfulness to anyone in need. No sacrifice was too great for him to make for his loved ones. He was one who loved to be at home with his family.

Besides his wife and two daughters he leaves two brothers, Wm. J. Grouell of Hollywood, California, and Arthur N. Grouell of Ida Grove, Iowa, and one sister, Mrs. F. A. Young of Fessenden, North Dakota, and other realtives and many friends.
