MRS. DAVID MARQUARDT OF VAN METER DIES

Succumbs at Des Moines Hospital Following Operation

Van Meter - (Special)

This community was shocked Wednesday morning of last week to learn of the death of Mrs. David H. Marquardt, who underwent an operation at a Des Moines hospital Tuesday and died the next morning. She was 53 years of age.

Mrs. Marquardt was the former Augusta Lucy Niendorf, and was born in Madison county on Jan. 21, 1888, the daughter of Louis and Wilhelmina Niendorf. All of her life was spent in the neighborhood of her birthplace.

On Jan. 21, 1934, she was married to David H. Marquardt. They were the parents of one daughter, Fern Maxine.

She was baptized in infancy and later confirmed in the Lutheran church, remaining steadfast in that faith until her death.

She leaves her husband; her daughter; three brothers, John and Herman Niendorf of Van Meter and Louis Niendorf of Clarinda; and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Roberts of Truro, Mrs. Henrietta Kneuper and Mrs. Amanda Marquardt of Van Meter.

Funeral services were held at the Trinity Lutheran church last Saturday in charge of the Rev. C. Lilie, pastor. Burial was made in the cemetery there, with the following acting as pallbearers: Alfred W. Lienemann, Arthur Jensen, William Walther, Ralph Diddy, Lloyd Golightly and Al Littlepage.
