MACKSBURG RITES HELD FOR C. C. SCHOONOVER

Former Minister Succumbed March 10 at His Home Near There

Macksburg--(Special)--Funeral services for C. C. Schoonover, who died at his home here March 10, were held here last Wednesday from the Methodist church, in charge of the Rev. W. H. Moore, assisted by the Rev. B. R. Weetman. Burial was made in the Hamblin cemetery.

Mr. Schoonover was a native of Washington county, Iowa, where he was born Oct. 20, 1861. He was 79 years old at the time of his death.

He was married on March 25, 1889, to Florence B. Hamblin. They were the parents of five sons, three of whom preceded their father in death.

Mr. Schoonover spent much of his life as an itinerant minister until his health failed, when he settled down on a farm near Macksburg.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Leslie Schoonover of Macksburg and Earl Schoonover of Winterset; four grandchildren; a brother; and three sisters.

C. SCHOONOVER DIES AT AGE 79

Former Minister In County; Ill Health Necessitated Retirement.

Funeral services for C. C. Schoonover were held at the Macksburg Methodist church, Wednesday, March 12 at two o’clock in charge of the Rev. W. H. Moore, assisted by Rev. B. R. Weetman. Music was furnished by Mrs. Earle Whitworth, Mrs. Thomas Baker, Jay Steele, Jaye Thompson, accompanied by Mrs. Vernie Busch. Burial was made in the Hamblin cemetery.

Cassius Clay Schoonover, son of Hiram and Susanaha Hillam Schoonover, was born Oct. 21, 1861, in Washington county, and died in Macksburg, March 10, after a lingering illness, at the age of 79 years, 4 months and 20 days.

He was united in marriage March 25, 1889 to Florence B. Hamblin. To this union five sons were born: Josephus, Floyd, Leslie R., Earl C. and James W. Three of the sons preceded him in death. In early life he was called to the ministry conserved in churches and schoolhouses in the county. When his health failed he retired to a farm near Macksburg.

He leaves his wife and two sons, Leslie R. Of Macksburg; Earl C. Winterset; four grandchildren, one brother and three sisters, other relatives and friends.
