Thomas Garrett came to Winterset to attend the high school here and after graduating he went into business in the Brown shoe company in which he held a partnership for many years. he later engaged in other business ventures here and for about five years was located in Ames.

For the past few years he had been retired from business. About two years ago he was stricken with heart disease and had been in delicate health since. On Thursday of last week he was removed to the Winterset hospital when his condition became critical.

He is survived by his widow (the former Maude Jones); a sister Mrs. Clara Burghardt of Great Falls, Montana; and two brothers, Robert Garrett of Lorimor and Harry Garrett of Ottumwa.
