Will D. Travis Dies at Newark, New Jersey After Brief Illness.
Word was received here of the death of Will D. Travis of Newark, N. J. on Sunday morning, November 22nd, following a brief illness with pneumonia.
He was the youngest son of William M. Travis and Mary E. Travis, both now deceased and was born in Winterset, September 15, 1894.
He grew to manhood here, graduating from our local high school in the class of 1912. Soon after his grduation he learned the tinning and plumbing business in which he was engaged until June 1917 when he enlisted in the army transport service. His company was actively engaged in transport work in the Eastern States but did not see service in France.
After returning from the army, in March 1919, he re-entered the plumbing business in partnership with his brother-in-law, H. H. Preston. On October 23, 1920 he was married to Miss Alecia Higgins of Newark, N. J. the culmination of a courtship which began while he was serving in the army. In 1924 he moved with his wife and baby son to Newark where he has since lived.
He leaves surviving him besides his wife and son Frank, eight sisters, Mrs. Bertha Cox of Blue Lake, California, Mrs. J. W. Keller of Waukesha, Wis., Mr. H. B. Wise of St. Charles, Mrs. H. H. Preston of Newark, N. J., Mrs. A. L. Pennebaker of Sharpsburg, Mrs. N. E. Hollen of Winterset, Mrs. Lloyd Sprinkle of Detroit, Michigan and Mrs. James R. Sawyer of Winterset.
