CHARLES D. COWDEN PASSED LAST WEEK

Life-Long Madison County Resident Succumbs at Clarinda

Charles D. Cowden, a life-long resident of Madison county, died at the state hospital in Clarinda on Tuesday of last week. He was 71 years of age.

Mr. Cowden was born Oct. 1, 1867, the son of David and Sarah Cowden. He was baptized in the U.P. church at Clarinda.

He leaves his four sisters: Mrs. Margaret Shaffer, Mrs. Dot Moore, and Miss Sarah Cowden of Winterset, and Mrs. Ettna Bell Henderson of Colony, Neb.

Funeral services were held last Friday from the residence 10 miles north of Winterset, in charge of the Rev. W. C. Porter, a former pastor and friend of the family, assisted by the Rev. W. G. Robertson of the United Presbyterian church. Burial was made in the Stringtown cemetery.
