JOSIAH WARD, FORMER RESIDENT, DIED FRIDAY

Former Winterset and Truro Citizen Passes at Age of 90 Years

Josiah W. Ward, former resident of Winterset and Truro, died at his home in Harve, Ia. last Friday morning after a long illness. He was 90 years of age.

Mr. Ward was the father of Alice M. Ward of Truro and Don C. Ward of Winterset.

Mr. Ward was born in 1838 in Crawford county, Illinois. He came to Washington county, Iowa, with his parents in 1860, where he grew to manhood. In 1892 he moved to Story county, living there one year. From there he came to Madison county, living here three years on a farm northeast of Winterset, and then moving to Truro, where he was a resident for nine years. In 1902 he moved to Kansas, returning to Washington county two years ago, where he had since made his home.

He is survived by his wife and 10 children. They are: Alice M. Ward of Truro, Mrs. A. J. Severeid of Huxley, Don C. Ward of Winterset, Mrs. Mildred Knott of Des Moines, Mrs. Florence Drury and Mrs. Hazel Coley of Pittsburg, Kan., Ben H. Ward of Washington, Mrs. H. S. Heggen and Howard Ward of Alleman, Ia., and Glenn Ward of Manhattan, Kan.

Funeral services were held from the L. A. Jones funeral home in Washington on Sunday. Burial was made in the Washington cemetery.
