D. H. CUMMINGS OF BEVINGTON PASSES

Succumbed Last Friday at Advanced Age of 85 Years

D. H. Cummings, one of Madison county's most venerable citizens, died last Friday night at his home south of Bevington. He was 85 years of age.

Mr. Cummings was born in Washington county, Iowa, where he spent the early years of his life. There he was married on April 10, 1876, to Nancy Jane McKee. They were the parents of six children, four sons and two daughters all of whom were at the bedside of their father when he died Friday. Mrs. Cummings succumbed on May 17, 1916.

He had lived on his farm here for 21 years.

The six children are: Ed Cummings of Wayland, Fred Cummings of Bevington, Charles Cummings of St. Charles, Rollie Cummings of Patterson, and Mrs. Eva Landers and Mrs. Mary Cooper both of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Rollie Cummings home near Patterson, in charge of the Rev. E. L. Patterson, pastor of the St. Charles-Patterson churches. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
