Death of Mrs. Barton

Mrs. Annie E. Barton, a resident of Madison county for 60 years, died at her home in Winterset, Sunday. She was 78 years old and had been an invalid for the past year.

Mrs. Barton was born in Cochocton, Ohio, on August 17, 1857, the daughter of William H. and Mary Jane Smith. She came with her parents to Madison county at the age of 18. The family settled in Jackson township, where she made her home until her marriage in 1894 to William Barton. Since that time she has lived in Winterset. Her husband died 17 years ago.

She is survived by her three children; Mildred Barton at home, Howell D. Barton of Maquoketa and Mrs. A. D. Hopkins of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Barch of Cleveland, Ohio.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Tidrick funeral home in charge of the Rev. M. R. Talley of the M. E. church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
