Charlie Clopton, youngest son of Asbury and Mary Clopton, was born in Winterset, on July 16, 1893, and passed from this life at the Veterans hospital in Des Moines, June 24, 1938, at the age of 44 years, 11 months, and 8 days.

In 1917, he was united in marriage to Miss Faye Baker of Atlantic, and they became the parents of one daughter, Betty Coleen, who survives her father.

Charlie enlisted in his country's service during the World war and was given an honorable discharge from the army in 1918. He was known for his happy disposition and for his untiring service for his loved ones.

He leaves his daughter, Betty Coleen, of Belding, Michigan, two sisters, Mrs. Wilda Jacobe of Boone and Mrs. Cora Van Hosen of Des Moines, one brother, Tom Clopton of Bevington, besides ten nephews and nieces and a host of more distant relatives and friends. Two sisters and one brother and his parents have preceded him in death.
