DEATH OF G. O. WRIGHT

G. O. Wright aged Winterset resident, died at his home, south of Winterset, Wednesday, February 21st at the age of 80 years. Mr. Wright was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and came to this county with his parents, when he was two years of age. They located on a farm near what is known as Buffalo and this has since been their home. Mr. Wright had been ill with heart trouble for some time.

G. O. Wright was of a family of ten children, all of whom have preceded him in death, except two brothers, Eli Wright of Winterset and George Wright of Des Moines.

He leaves four sons, Roy of Peru, Ray and William of Winterset and Fred who resided with his father. In addition to the sons and brothers, he leaves several grandchildren and great grandchildren. His wife Mrs. Margaret Wright died in October 1929.

Funeral services for Mr. Wright were held at Tidrick’s funeral home last Friday, February 23rd at 2:30 o’clock and burial was in the Primitive Baptist cemetery, north of Winterset.

PIONEER SETTLER DIES FEBRUARY 21

Giles O. Wright, 80, lifelong citizen of Scott township, died February 21, at his home east of the city park. He was the son of Charles Wright, one of the country’s oldest settlers who was the miller at the Compton’s mill on Middle River many years. His brothers, Eli Wright, and George Wright of Des Moines, are the only surviving members of the family of eleven children.

Mr. Wright was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, April 19, 1853 and came to Madison county with his parents when he was two years old.

He was a member of the Primitive Baptist church as was his wife, Margaret, who died in October, 1929. His sons, Roy Wright, Peru; Ray, William and Fred Wright, Winterset, survive.

Services were Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the Tidrick funeral home conducted by the rev. Fred W. Madson. Burial was in the Primitive Baptist cemetery.
