Death of Mrs. J. J. Gaston

Funeral services for Mrs. J. J. Gaston, well known Winterset resident were held at the Winterset cemetery, Saturday, September 26th at four o'clock. The Rev. L. F. Davis had charge and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Mrs. Gaston who was 83 years of age, was the former Miss Eleanor E. Huntington. She was born April 2, 1853 in Perry, New York. She was a graduate of the Genesco State Normal school of New York, and was engaged in teaching both in the Empire state and in Des Moines, becoming principal of the Franklin school of the latter city.

She was married to J. J. Gaston of Winterset, Spril 8, 1886. Mr. Gaston was an implement dealer here and they made their home here, until Mr. Gaston's death in November 1929. Mrs. Gaston remained here for another year, and in 1930 went back to Rochester, New York where she has since resided.

She became seriously ill in April and was taken to the home of Mrs. Grant Watrous, a relative at Perry, New York where she was cared for until her death last Wednesday September 23rd. Brief services were held for Mrs. Gaston at Perry, New York last Thursday and the body was sent here for burial.

Mrs. Gaston had no children of her own but is survived by an adopted daughter whom she and Mr. Gaston raised, Mrs. E. G. Buell of New York City. Mrs. Buell accompanied her mother's body here.
